After further analysis and the additional resources made available by Mr. Martin to the Blue Zuma Project, we have determined the following recommendations be implemented immediately to ensure that our retailers have the product by February 1, as established by our Mr. Lane. We will write a custom essay sample on Blue Zuma Part 2 or any similar topic only for you Order Now The concern with the original project plan revolved around three activities not having enough resources to complete the project per the timeline identified above. Those three activities were: Detailed Product Design, Detailed Marketing Plan and Manufacturing Process. With the additional resources made available, we are confident we can improve the process within the three activities identified above. 1. Which additional personnel assignments would you choose to complete the project before the February 1st deadline? Explain your choices as well as the reasons for not choosing other options. It appears an additional marketing specialist would be best utilized for this job. The resource sheet depicts that the marketing specialist is still overallocated; however the other resources appear to be allocated correctly when we added the additional resources provided by Mr. Lane. Cost would be an important factor in determining if any additional employees will/would be needed. However, we can approve overtime to address some concerns. 2. How have these changes affected the sensitivity of the network? Once the changes are in place, the duration of the project has been reduced from 290 days to 274 days. This improvement has reduced the overall length of the project, thus allowing the deadline set by the Mr. Lane (President). We are confident we can now complete the project by January 27. By allocating the additional and available resources, we were able to reduce the amount of critical paths to one. In doing so, we increase the slack in non-critical activities, thus reducing or decreasing the sensitivity of the network. One critical path is now identified in the project. The art of losing Essay Example
The art of losing Paper This essay is mainly focused on Elizabeth Bishops poem One Art, and the recurrent theme of losing, depicted as an art, or as the poet might say: the art of losing. This paper will also focus on the poems form and the way in which the usage of certain conventions, such as tone, language, syntax (adjectives, adverbs and verbs) and form help to convey the poets message, which suggests that loss can lead to the mastery of the art of losing. The poems title conveys the suggestion that its contents deal with the theme of art, which may be considered an irony; in the sense that as the reader goes through the lines he realizes that the poem is not about art, but about the art of losing. This art, as suggested in the poem, resembles an acquired and accomplished skill that results from the experience of losing insignificant things, which will lead, throughout the experience gained, to an art of losing rather important things in life. The art of losing and the poems form Elizabeth Bishops poem is structured in a way in which one may notice the poets struggle in expressing herself. It seems as she is trying to state something different to what is being expressed. Chief among these conceptions there is a powerful sense of loss. She is able to achieve all this throughout the manipulation of language and form. Even the tone of the poem seems to avoid the real intended argument that the form of the poem tries to put forward (which will be discussed throughout this essay). As mentioned before in the introduction, most of the poem is filled with irony. Throughout this ironic indication it becomes obvious that this poem is not about art, but about the art of losing, which becomes a skill that can only be acquired and accomplished through countless hours of practice. The irony held in the poem becomes evident by revealing that losing is an art. Without a doubt, it is ironic to see how a frustrating and difficult part of life can be considered an art. The tone also changes in each of the stanzas. In the first stanza, Bishop speaks in tones of a rather experienced woman who has gone through situations which lead her to assert that with the intent to be lost [ ] their loss is no disaster (lines 2-3). This, however, resembles the daily loss of keys, and time. Such parallelisms of lost things provide a temporary distraction that repels the reader away from the force built in the poem. Apparently the poet tries to hide her pain caused by the loss of a dear one, thinking that by embracing loss, she can master the art she is longing to obtain, the art of losing. In the second stanza Bishop suggests the reader, throughout the usage of imperatives, to lose something every day and accept the fluster (line 4). Through the usage of imperatives and by sounding dominant, Bishop tells the reader that the art of losing isnt hard to master. The only thing that is left is to accept the fluster of lost door keys, the hour badly spent(lines 4-5). Up to this point it seems as if the poet is trying to provide the reader with a guide devoted to the mastering of art losing. Suggesting that by following her simple advices, the reader can, too, achieve such art. It seems as if Bishop is trying to put forward the philosophical reflection of the first stanza throughout imperatives and a second person speaker. The third stanza intensifies the intention of the previous stanza in being developed as a command with a simple shift to then(line 7). Bishop puts forward an increasingly dynamic agenda devoted to loss, she commands the reader to practice losing farther, losing faster(line 7), but now she is not losing simple things. Bishop goes from losing simple things to losing places, and names, and where it was you meant to travel (line 8). It appears as if she is simply shifting the tone to a confessional one, since it has become evident, up to here, that Bishop is the one who speaks, which will become evident in the following stanza, she addresses the reader and shares her own experiences. Throughout the poem, the changes in tone and speaker bestow the poets efforts to cover up her true feelings. She goes from denying the importance of losing significant, but rather essential things, to the loss of personal belongings. The usage of colloquial language intensifies the poems emotional power that has been hidden until now. The rhyme scheme Bishop employs and the usage of the villanelle appeal to put forward the intention and message of the poem, apart from lessening the seriousness of Bishops true feelings. The poem in the fourth and fifth stanzas gains intensity, since the poet refers to the loss of properties, and places.

How to Survive NaNoWriMo in 2018 17 Top Tips for Success How to Survive NaNoWriMo in 2018: 17 Top Tips for Success You might not like to hear this. But NaNoWriMo can often take a toll on you mentally and even creatively. It might not make sense to you now, but youââ¬â¢ll understand just how much NaNoWriMo can affect you in a little bit.First, letââ¬â¢s talk about what makes NaNoWriMo unique and special. What is NaNoWriMo?NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month.Itââ¬â¢s an event that takes place over the course of November where writers from all over commit to writing 50,000 words during the month. Thatââ¬â¢s the main goal and if you accomplish this, thatââ¬â¢s how you WIN NaNoWriMo.So unfortunately, no, NaNoWriMo not some sort of nanobotthat you can implant in your mind to write your book for you.The entire point is to help writers have a month of very high productivity so they can get the first draft out of the way in order to pave the way for editing, rewriting, and overall polishing. What can take writers months to accomplish (50,000 words) only needs to take one so the book gets finished faster. Here are your daily, weekly, and total goals for NaNoWriMo. If youre someone who likes to work on a weekly basis instead of a daily, this will help you.How to Prepare for NaNoWriMoOne of the best things you can do if you want to win NaNoWriMo is to prepare properly. Thereââ¬â¢s a reason those who participate dub October as Preptober. Here are a few things you can do to make sure youââ¬â¢re ready when NaNoWriMo comes to town.#1 Download your survival guide! When it comes to making it through NaNoWriMo, you might need help. Itââ¬â¢ll be a tough month and thatââ¬â¢s why we put together this survival guide for you to follow. It covers expanded preparation steps as well as resources to help you get through the month.Make sure to download this if you want to win NaNoWriMo this year! #2 Pick a storyIf you havenââ¬â¢t already, you have to decide which story youââ¬â¢re going to write. If youââ¬â¢re anything like me, you might have tons of book ideas bouncing around inside your head.So how do you choose which to write and which to save for later? Here are a few questions I like to ask myself when deciding which story to try first:Which do you think about the most?Which is developed the most?Which one is a book youââ¬â¢d be most likely to pick up and read yourself?Which one have you been thinking of as you read these questions?Chances are, thereââ¬â¢s one idea that stands out to you above all the rest. Even if the others are good, the story youââ¬â¢re most connected to and think about the most is the one youââ¬â¢ll actually enjoy writing the most. And since youââ¬â¢ll be spending a great deal of time on this book over the next month, actually enjoying it is very important.Pick the one that has your passion and run with it.#3 OUTLINEIââ¬â¢m a personal advocate of outlining. My outlines are very detailed and I want to basically have an instruction manual for my book. That being said, itââ¬â¢s understandable that not everyone works well with an outline. Maybe itââ¬â¢s not for you. However, going into NaNoWriMo completely blind is a mistake. You at least want to have an overview of the plot and the major plot points figured out so you have a direction in which to write. For those of you who need outlining, make sure itââ¬â¢s done before November starts! That clear, step-by-step overview of your book will be extremely helpful for saving time. Youââ¬â¢ll be able to sit down and get to writing instead of spending so much time trying to figure out where your story is going.#4 Join support groupsGoing through something as arduous as NaNoWriMo requires some backuppreferably in the form of friends or just other people participating as well. You all know that itââ¬â¢s going to be hard and therefore, you can count on sup port groups to help propel you through the tough times.Support groups are your best bet to stay motivated throughout the entire month. Plus, anyone whoââ¬â¢s a part of those groups is usually more than willing to help when you get stuck on your story, too.So where do you find groups like these? You can follow specific hashtags or accounts on Twitter, or you can join Facebook groups dedicated to NaNoWriMo.Here are a few Facebook groups you can join right now to help you make it through:Official NaNoWriMo PageNaNoWriMoNaNoWriMo 20182018 NaNoWriMo Support Encouragement#5 Get in the right mindsetThe reason NaNoWriMo is so difficult isnââ¬â¢t because of the fact that youââ¬â¢re writing a book; itââ¬â¢s because youââ¬â¢re writing so much of your book in such a short amount of time. Itââ¬â¢s scary. And that can be intimidating to a number of people most of us, Iââ¬â¢d wager to bet. That means one of your biggest obstacles isnââ¬â¢t plotting your novel or making sure youââ¬â¢re physically prepared, itââ¬â¢s making sure youââ¬â¢re mentally ready to complete such a tough goal. That means focusing on your inspiration, motivation, and staying positive! You can find other methods of maintaining the right mindset in our NaNoWriMo survival guide.#6 Schedule your writing time This is one of the absolute best ways to ensure you actually make it through NaNoWriMo in one piece and even win!Itââ¬â¢s as simple as making a schedule for yourself and then sticking to it.Anyone can mark their days to write on a calendar but it takes a special kind of writer to sit down daily and hit those word count goals. We actually put together a progress tracking and planning spreadsheet that calculates your percentage completed in our NaNoWriMo survival guide! You can find what that looks like below. You can use this all year round, not just in November. Give it a download if you want to make some real progress this month.NaNoWriMo-Winning HabitsBeing able to win NaNoWriMo is the entire goal of entering. You want to complete 50,000 words in a single month. But thatââ¬â¢s much easier said than done.I decided to pull out the big guns and ask for some help from my personal Twitter followers since I know many of them participate in this yearly.I tweeted out asking for help, and they did NOT disappoint.I NEED YOUR HELP: #Nanowrimo writers, what are some of your tips for surviving the month of November to win NaNoWriMo? Im putting together a blog post for @self_pub_school and need your help.Whether you won or have not yet completed it, I still want your help!- Bella Rose Pope (@BellaRosePope) October 15, 2018Here are some of the tips I received on the thread of this tweet along with some extended tips to help you make the most of NaNoWriMo this month.#1 Pick a daily word count and focus on hitting that onlyWhen you think about the overall goal of writing 50,000, you might begin to sweat, get anxious, and even feel discouraged.Because it is a lot of words to write in a single month. But one of the biggest tips experienced NaNoWriMo-ers have for anyone venturing to accomplish such an audacious goal is to only focus on hitting your daily goal.So instead of thinking about it as 50,000 words a month, think of it as 1667 words a day. This helps your mind process the amount better so you donââ¬â¢t get so overwhelmed.#2 Put together writing playlistsInspiration doesnââ¬â¢t just exactly come around whenever you want it to. Sometimes it hides away like you might when winter comes around (just me?).But the thing is, if every writer waited for inspiration to find them in order to write, hardly any of us would get our books done and weââ¬â¢d definitely not make it through NaNoWriMo with 50,000 words accomplished. So instead, you might have to coax inspiration from the outskirts of your mind and one way many writers do this is through music.Create a playlist that fits with the style of your story and turn it on whenever you s it down to write. It can serve as inspiration and a mental cue for your mind to get ready to work.#3 Have writing motivation and inspiration handyJust like I mentioned above, you wonââ¬â¢t always want to write but in order to hit your goal for November, you need to write daily (unless you want to sit and write huge chunks of words a couple days a week). When you keep visuals, quotes, and even other novels that have inspired your own writing journey handy, itââ¬â¢s much easier to get in the mood to crank out some high-quality words.#4 Commit to NOT editing at allThis is one of the hardest parts for many whoââ¬â¢ve done NaNoWriMo before. They can get the words down, but only if they donââ¬â¢t stop to edit as they go.Your first draft is better done than perfect, which is the entire point of NaNoWriMo in the first place. So put the editor part of your mind on hold and let your writer-brain take full ownership over the next month.#5 Ask friends/family to leave you aloneI rea lize this might sound harsh but NaNoWriMo is a commitment. You canââ¬â¢t have friends and family bugging you when itââ¬â¢s your designated writing time.In order to succeed with NaNoWriMo, itââ¬â¢s best to make it clear to everyone around you that youââ¬â¢ll be unreachable for a specific amount of time whenever you write. If you set that expectation early on and be stern about it, itââ¬â¢ll be easier to avoid this type of distraction throughout the month.#6 Recruit a close accountability partnerIf writing groups donââ¬â¢t work for you because your posts get lost in the mix, pairing up with someone for one-on-one accountability might be a better option for you.You can check-in daily and give each other support and encouragement when it gets tough. And trust me, by the second week, youââ¬â¢ll need someone there to push you along and remind you why you started this lofty task in the first place.#7 Use a distraction-free writing appThere are a ton of writing software and apps out there designed to help you write and write faster. One of the best to use is an app called Freedom. What this app does is cut off access to certain websites or apps for a determined amount of time. Whenever you try to visit those sites (like Twitter) during the time you have scheduled to write, youââ¬â¢ll receive this message:This prevents you from procrastinating or getting too distracted, which hinders your word count progress. The idea here is that this app ââ¬Å"freesâ⬠you from the addiction and distraction of sites you know you get sucked into easily.#8 Turn your notifications offThis is for your phone, social media, email, and any other notifications that might pop up during your writing time.If you use the app mentioned above, this will be a little easier, but you also have to manually keep your phone far away from you so even text messages wonââ¬â¢t break through your concentration.Just me, those messages will still be there by the time youââ¬â¢r e done with writing.#9 Never guilt-shame yourselfThis will be very hard if, for whatever reason, you donââ¬â¢t end up hitting your word count goal daily. Youââ¬â¢ll start to shame yourself, even if only internally. This isnââ¬â¢t productive in any way, shape, or form and itââ¬â¢ll only slow you down further.Instead, you should recognize when youââ¬â¢re behind, and then schedule the time to catch up if hitting that 50,000 words is truly important to you.And if you need a little bit more to help you out with this one, just remember that no matter what, youââ¬â¢re making progress on your book and that alone is a major accomplishment.#10 Just writeNaNoWriMo is all about just making progress. That progress doesnt have to be the best version of what you can do, it just has to be progress. You can forget all about making your manuscript all shiny and perfect. Instead, just focus on pumping out those words.Write to the best of your ability given the time you have to hit th ose words. After all, the large majority of us tend to write best once we get into the groove of just writing anyway. And that means if you shut off the self-critical part of your brain for a while, you can make some major strides.#11 Go easy on yourselfCut yourself some slack. Youââ¬â¢re not perfect and writing can be very difficult. If something comes up and youââ¬â¢re not able to write for a day, just forget about it and get back on track the next.Thereââ¬â¢s no point in driving yourself crazy over missing a few thousand words because like I said above, youââ¬â¢re still making progress on your book and thatââ¬â¢s the entire point of NaNoWriMo in the first place. What to do Next Only if Youââ¬â¢re SeriousWriting a book isnââ¬â¢t for those who just choose to do it on a whim. Those people arenââ¬â¢t serious and therefore, these next steps wonââ¬â¢t help them. But if you are completely serious about writing and completing a book, we have a few next steps that will help you get there.#1 Your free trainingIf you havenââ¬â¢t taken advantage of this free training offered by Chandler Bolt, youââ¬â¢re making a mistake.

Growing and Caring for Norfolk Island Pine
Growing and Caring for Norfolk Island Pine Araucaria heterophylla, or Norfolk Island pine or Australian pine, is a southern hemisphere conifer native to the Norfolk Islands and Australia. Technically, its not a real pine. Norfolk Island Pine is one of the few conifers able to adapt to inside the home and is able to tolerate relatively low light levels. In its native habitat, this tree may reach 200 feet in height with 15-pound cones. The tree will grow outside in the United States but only in the semi-tropics of Florida. Specifics Scientific name: Araucaria heterophyllaPronunciation: air-ah-KAIR-ee-uh het-er-oh-FILL-uhCommon name(s): Norfolk Island Pine, Australian PineFamily: AraucariaceaeUSDA hardiness zones: South tip of Florida and California, zone 11Origin: not native to North AmericaUses: specimen, house plantAvailability: generally available in many areas within its hardiness range - especially during Christmas holidays. Pruning As Norfolk pine grows upward, the trunk thickens and the pine limbs increase in size. You should never cut their growing tips off and only rarely trim side branches for balance. A symmetrical look can be maintained by turning the plant regularly toward the sun. The lower branches and limbs tend to shed dry, brown needles when dehydrated and need pruning. The dry needles will not come back nor will lower limbs. These drying needles and dying limbs suggest drying out so follow watering instructions. The only maintenance pruning to be done is the removal of dead lower branches. Comments From Experts Extension Nursery Specialist Dr. Leonard Perry: If you want to invest in a houseplant with a future, buy a Norfolk Island pine. It requires minimal care, and because it grows slowly will remain small and attractive for many years indoors. Horticulturist Rosie Lerner: The Norfolk Island pine has grown in popularity as a live indoor Christmas tree. Its lush green twigs of soft needles provide a lovely backdrop for festive holiday ornaments. Moisture Norfolk pines have distinctively flat, whorled snow-flake like branches and short soft needles. They enjoy humid environments. As they age, and with the lack of humidity, the needles along the trunk will fall off. Mist spraying and a rocky moisture bed can increase humidity but never leave moisture around the roots. Just like under-watering, too much water will result in sporadic bright yellow needle clusters that come off very easily and dont come back. Check to make sure the plant is not standing in lots of water. It is actually inhibiting root water uptake, increasing root rot and, like lack of moisture is not good. These plants do best with consistency so stay on a weekly watering schedule - not too much and not too little h2o. You can get by with less during the dormant winter months. Fertilization Norfolk Island pines dont require frequent fertilization but when you do, use only at half the normal recommended rate. You can also use any complete soluble fertilizer including liquid foliar plant food applied as a mist for enhanced foliage response. Fertilize older plants every three to four months and repotted or newly purchased plants every four to six months. Try to limit the times you move your tree to aà new container as they have a weak root system which can be harmed by rough movement.à Norfolk Island pines need only be repotted every three to four years using a commercially available potting mixture. Culture Light requirement: tree grows in full sunSoil tolerances: clay; loam; sand; acidic; alkaline; well-drainedDrought tolerance: highAerosol salt tolerance: moderateSoil salt tolerance: good In Depth Although Norfolk pines provide some shade, they are not suitable for patios or terraces because they are too large and large surface roots are common. Obviously, this only applies to people growing the tree in south Florida. For the rest of us, moving a potted tree outside to partially shaded sun through spring and summer is a good thing. Many people forget how tall these trees grow. They often have an attractive pyramidal form (like a fir or spruce tree) when they are small, but they quickly grow too tall for most residential sites. They can live as a houseplant for a long time if not over-watered but rarely grow more than 5 or 6 feet tall. Growing best in full sun locations, this tree thrives on a variety of soils and is moderately salt tolerant. Young plants should be watered well, especially during periods of drought. Be sure to prune out multiple trunks or leaders as they should be grown with one central leader.ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹ Propagation is by seeds or cuttings of erect shoot tips only.

Organizational Communication Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Organizational Communication - Research Paper Example Effective communication in this case requires message, a sender, a recipient, codes to help in encoding the message, and a means of transmitting the message. If passed on well information contained in communication will encourage and promote good relations between people and entities. This therefore emphasizes the need for effective communication if the businesses are to prosper as well as have a good flow of information within the out of their confines. One of the characteristics of effective communication is the absence of conflict in response or reaction as has been captured perfectly by Katherine Miller (2008). When we talk of organizational communication, we essentially refer to the way in which companies, associations or groupings communicate with their employees, clientele as well as how departments interrelate with each other. It is also encompasses the relationship between a business and its environment, a process that enables the organization to relate with its surrounding in order to serve them with finesse (Carsten, & De Dreu, 2007). Literature Review: Effective communication in a very important tool in an organization, especially because of the way it helps in promoting good flow of information and hence relationship and performance of the business departments as they create a synergy for achieving the best results in terms of production. Organizational communication can either be internal or external. Internal communication is solely communication within the confines of the company while external is communication with other businesses or any other external entity. Effective communication leads to many positive effects and leads to good productivity. There are several ways that management can use communication to pass information. They include emails, meetings, face-to-face discussions, letters, video conferencing, conferences and telephone calls (Fredric, & Jablin 2007). Noteworthy, is the fact that some methods of message transfer are more effect ive and detailed than others and therefore appropriate to always evaluate the organization and weigh the most effective and cost efficient mode of communication for your business, and through which the company can achieve maximum profits. When the most appropriate mode of communication is used then message contained in it not only leads to its effective transfer but it also enhances a good relationship between various entities in the an organization and especially the top management and the workers. It also creates an enabling environment for the building of trust within the company workers (Miller, 2008). Communication as a process is a very dynamic and vibrant process when compared to other business processes. As a process communication changes with individuals and this is dependent on factors such as education, eloquence, target audience and the message being transmitted itself. It is therefore right to say that the sender of the message determines how the message will be underst ood and interpreted. If communication is efficient, it will get rid of events of conflicting messages or conflicting responses (Fredric, & Jablin, 2007). Successful communication at different levels of management is important in an organization in that it helps in building of relationships amongst these people. Communication between management and employee is also a very important aspect

International Business Questions - Essay Example This means that the marketing and management, amongst various others, strategies they deploy address regional and local markets and not the global one per se. Within the context of the stated, and as affirmed by Stevens and Bird (2004) multinational firms perceive of the global market as a series of interconnected local and regional markets and, hence, pursue strategies which are consistent with this perspective. Hence, despite their popularly being referred to as multinational, global firms justifiably pursue inherently regional strategies. The pursuit of regional vs. global strategies is partially determined by the imperatives of balancing between globalisation and localisation. There are intense, contradictory pressures on multinational enterprises to integrate across borders as well as to respond to local pressures; that means, to pursue local strategies which address the domestic/local market and global strategies which target the international market. Indeed, were multinational firms to eschew the imperatives of adaptation to the local market and the design of strategies which address its characteristics, they would probably be perceived of as an alien entrant into the market, thereby arousing consumer resistance (Reed, 1997; Rugman, 2001). Were they, however, to pursue local/domestic or regional strategies, they would be perceived of as part of the market in question, thereby offsetting the potential for consumer resistance. In other words, and as Rugman (2001) emphasises, the success of multinational firms is pa rtially predicated on market perceptions of them as belonging to and understanding of the market in question, entailing the design of strategies which are consistent with the micro-environment. International strategies are inconsistent with the very notion of the micro-environment while regional strategies are (Roth and Morrison, 1990; Rugman, 2001). It is for this reason that multinational firms adhere to regional, as opposed to international strategies. It is important to emphasise that corporations are embracing the basic principles of globalization, as evidenced by ever increasing cross-border trade and the widening grip of MNEs on international business. It is doing so, however, within the context of regionalization. Trade laws and enthusiasm for globalisation aside, the fact is that while markets are interconnected, there is no international homogeneity of consumer tastes and market characteristics. Safarian (2003), arguing for market interconnectedness but against homogeneity, maintains that the reality of globalisation is pockets of globalisation. This means that globalisation, as in market homogeneity and interconnectedness, is only valid and present on the regional level. There is no such homogeneity, although there is interconnectedness, on the global/international level. The implication here is, as may be inferred from several scholars, is that there is simply no basis for the formulation and implementation of global marke t and marketing strategies. The global market, as in the homogeneous and interconnected one, simply does not exist (Sheth, 2001; Safarian, 2003; Rugman, 2005; Dicken, 2007). From this perspective, therefore, firms cannot pursue international/global strategies and, indeed, have no choice but to adhere to regional ones within the contex
